CAPE COD CRANBERRY DAY AT GREEN BRIAR
During the Columbus Day holiday weekend on Saturday, October 12, Green Briar
Nature Center & Jam Kitchen in East Sandwich invites all to its 19th Annual
Cape Cod Cranberry Day. From 11am to 3pm Green Briar celebrates this native
berry so prominent in the history of Cape Cod with cooking demonstrations in
its historic 1903 Jam Kitchen using traditional cranberry recipes. Enjoy a
cranberry apple crumble dessert served in the kitchen for a $5 fee. Check
out the homemade cranberry treats bake sale, and join a tour of the
neighboring cranberry bog at 11am or at 1:15pm for a $3 fee per person.
Families are invited to a "Frog in the Bog" Story Time at noon as well as
some time for fun crafts. View the gallery exhibit covering the life and
works of the prolific children's author and naturalist, Thornton W. Burgess;
look for the Queen Bee in the indoor bee hive; browse in Green Briar's
Mercantile offering our jams, jellies, Burgess books, and a wide variety of
unique and nature-related items. Visit the nature center's resident animals
and stroll the grounds around the Smiling Pool . . . a special spot in all
seasons! Green Briar is located at 6 Discovery Hill Road, just off Route
6A in East Sandwich. For further information, call 508-888-6870 and visit
