Last year's participants are saying:
*"We've tried some great tools this year and you've helped me think about
more ways I can get my students playing with data without being
intimidated."*
*"These resources are a great tool for students to use data to understand
relationships and concepts through inquiry and problem-solving. It also
provides a great opportunity for students to work with actual data sets
from the field."*

As part of a National Science Foundation-funded program, there is a great
opportunity for teachers and students to engage with authentic science
research by taking part in the *"Schoolyard" portion of the Northeast US
Shelf Long Term Ecological Research (NES-LTER) program*
https://nes-lter.whoi.edu/. This is open to Middle and High Schools in the
region and can fit into any science subject or any level class. It is an
excellent opportunity to build your toolbox for NGSS practices and link
research experience for students in a vertical science program.
This 2nd year of 5 will include:
3 Teacher *PD* workshops/webinars, pilot of student *DataJam**, field
sampling support, curriculum support, *Research Experience for Teachers
(RET) cruise opportunities*, potential student field trip to WHOI (based
student/teacher participation during the year)
*see the article in September issue of NSTA *The* *Science Teacher *
There is no cost to participate. Field trips and substitute teachers will
be funded by the grant. Field equipment may be available on a loan program
to invested schools.
