Dear STEM Network members,

Thank you for another great year building the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network and helping us to fulfill our mission: To be an inspiration hub for tomorrow's innovators. 2018 was filled with many successes and achievements for the Network, thanks to the participation and support of all of our dedicated members.

Some highlights:
* STEM Week (https://capecodstemnetwork.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e42964f129d483d76c0c4bbc&id=9193822052&e=79dee973df) was a huge success! With over 40 amazing events and 38 participating organizations across the Cape & Islands we achieved the Mass STEM Council's goals for Mass STEM Week of raising STEM awareness and knowledge in our region. We are already looking forward to coordinating STEM Week 2019 next October!

* RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS: We launched a K-12 Teacher Resource Center, to loan out STEM curriculum, materials and kits to Cape & Islands educators. In addition, we continued to offer teacher professional development in STEM subjects for area school districts to support high-quality education in and out of classrooms. We are always accepting donations, and looking for new recipients. Contact bburger at capecod.edu for more information.

* Our Teacher-in-Residence program, which pairs K-12 educators with STEM-rich institutions in a two week Summer externship, hosted four teachers to develop high-quality STEM curriculum units. We plan to host five new externships in 2019. * VEX ROBOTICS IS TAKING OFF: We are hosting regional competitions at Cape Cod Community College for Cape & Islands middle and high school Vex robotics teams. Read about it here (https://capecodstemnetwork.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e42964f129d483d76c0c4bbc&id=75d04c8b07&e=79dee973df) .

* WINTER DESIGN CHALLENGE: Last year over 40 teams participated in the 2018 Cape Cod Cardboard Challenge, and the winning teams received a field trip to Wackenhammer's (https://capecodstemnetwork.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9e42964f129d483d76c0c4bbc&id=9493f1a41c&e=79dee973df) Arcade STEAMusem. STAY TUNED for the 2019 design challenge, to be announced soon!

* STEM Ecosystems are gaining momentum: We are growing our Network using the national STEM Ecosystems approach, and last month the White House National Science &Technology Council announced an Ecosystems approach as a key strategy in the nation's five year plan for STEM education.
