  Naturescape Gallery with Spotter Pilot & Photographer
Wayne Davis


BREWSTER, MA ­ Naturescape Gallery at the Cape 
Cod Museum of Natural History is proud to present 
Spotter Pilot & Photographer Wayne Davis September 1 ~ October 31, 2015.

Wayne is a 3rd generation Point Judith, RI 
fisherman who had earned his living as a three 
season deckhand for nearly three decades aboard 
Pt. Jude draggers from the mid-60s through 
mid-90s, and a summertime fish spotter since '73, 
finding swordfish & tuna for New England's commercial harpooners
.
Now, after 40+ seasons of fish spotting, Wayne 
has chosen to give fishing a break, and assist in 
finding Great White sharks in a scientific 
venture with The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy 
in conjunction with Greg Skomal of the 
Massachusetts Shark Research Program 
(MSRP).  Together their groundbreaking population 
study of Cape Cod's Great White Sharks had a 
great start in 2014 to a five year study by 
getting a positive ID on 68 newly identified 
Great Whites. This was accomplished along the 
southern half of Cape Cod's eastern shore. Over 
the years, Wayne has developed a passion for 
capturing and sharing photographic images of 
marine life in our New England waters and will be 
exhibiting his stunning and unique photographs 
for 2 months in our Naturescape Gallery.
