Part-Time Summer Science Instructor:
BCB seeks a part-time science instructor for our Mummichogs half-day program for
students ages 6-8.  The program will run from 9:00-11:30AM Monday to Friday at
our Monument Beach Marina location.  This program will be composed of one half
marine science topics, and one half water safety topics.  The program will run
for a minimum of two weeks, with a possible extension to other weeks.  This
position will also be responsible for covering “Lunch Bunch”, for sailing camp
students who stay from 12:00-1:00 PM for lunch between morning and afternoon
sessions as needed.
Qualifications:
-    Minimum of a Bachelor degree in science or education
-    Current CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Certification
-    Previous teaching experience in an outdoor or marine science setting
Compensation:  $15 per hour

Full Time Summer Sailing Instructors:
BCB is hiring full-time Instructors for the summer 2013 sailing program. The
core program operates for 8 weeks between June 24 and August 16, plus a week of
staff preparation.   This position requires some time prior to and following the
core program for setup and storage of fleet.  Bourne Community Boating operates
out of Monument Beach marina on Phinney’s Harbor in Bourne, Massachusetts on
Cape Cod.
Overview:  Our sailing instructors are the face of BCB in the summer and
interact with the students, families and general public constantly.  Therefore,
they must be friendly, courteous and knowledgeable, in addition to being good
teachers and sailors.  They must be enthusiastic about sailing and other
watersports, and ready to share your enthusiasm with our members. They are
ambassadors of the program while in public and must act appropriately.  They
must be team players and work well with the rest of the instructor staff and
with the Executive Director.  Flexibility, dedication to the job, and a sense of
humor are essential to a fun, successful summer.
Our fleet:   We currently use 24 Vanguard prams for beginner, advanced beginner,
and intermediate classes.  Intermediate and Adventuring students also use
Capris, Lasers, Bullseyes and windsurfers. Instructors use skiffs and
inflatables to transport students and use as a teaching platform on the water.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for students from check-in to checkout.
Responsible for site and fleet maintenance in coordination with President,
Executive Director, and fleet captain.
Assist with preparation and execution of lesson plans.
Teach students the fundamentals of sailing, fleet maintenance, and seamanship.
Positive role model that demonstrates leadership, safety, and fun.
Conduct student orientation session (Sat. before classes start).
Student evaluations.
Boat launch and removal in coordination with Fleet director.
Attend certain fundraising functions.
Assist in occasional student events, including after hours and weekends.
Training and Experience:
REQUIRED:
US Sailing Level 1 Certification, including CPR, First Aid and US Powerboating.
Must be at least 18 years old and graduated high school by start of season.
References regarding previous teaching experience upon request.
CORI and SORI background check prior to start of employment.
PREFERRED:
USCG Launch tender or higher license.
2-3 years sailing instruction and teaching experience with increasing
responsibilities.
Lifeguard certification.
Windsurfing or other US Sailing Instructor certifications.
