Plants have been harvesting solar energy for about a billion years. Yet,
humans have been supplying less than 1% of our energy needs with the
power of the sun. But things are finally changing, and they’re changing
fast.

Why does solar energy make sense now? Because there are so many
different ways to participate. The state and federal governments have
put laws in place to enable creative business models that put solar
energy equipment where it does the most good. One model being developed
on Cape Cod is the Community Solar Garden™, a cooperative approach to
share the costs and benefits of solar. This provides a way for many who
can’t afford the solar equipment or don’t have a good location for solar
exposure to be a part of something great! See attached flyer.

Discussion by: Luke Hinkle. Luke Hinkle is the Founder of My Generation
Energy, a solar energy installation and development company based in
South Dennis. He sees deploying effective solar energy systems as a way
to simultaneously tackle challenges which are sometimes in conflict: the
economy, energy, and the environment.
