Wild Talks of the Air, Land and Sea - A Free Winter Lecture Series
Sponsored by the Cape Wildlife Center 

All presentations are free and open to the public (cash and in-kind
donations are most welcome) and are held on Wednesday evenings. Lectures
begin at 6:30pm at the Cape Wildlife Center, 4011 Main Street,
Barnstable, MA.  

January 12th: Beyond Shorebirds - The Landbirds of Cape Cod with Mark
Faherty, Science Coordinator, Mass Audubon/Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary
>From migrating songbirds to falcons, come learn about the variety of
landbirds found on Cape Cod. 

January 26th: Osprey - A Story of Survival with Ian Ives, Director, Mass
Audubon/Long Pasture, Ashumet and Skunknett River Sanctuaries 
Discover the osprey's amazing abilities and life history through this
colorful slide presentation.

February 9th: Natural History of Cottontails with Dave Paulson,
Consulting Biologist, Natural Heritage & Endangered Species, Mass.
Division of Fisheries and Wildlife
 Come learn about the life and conservation of the New England
Cottontail on Cape Cod. 

February 23rd: The Secret Life of Eastern Coyotes/Coywolves with
Jonathan G. Way, PhD., Eastern Coyote/Coywolf Research
This talk will describe the natural history and habits of this
mysterious and often misunderstood wild neighbor. 

March 9th: From Whaling to Whale Watching with Regina Asmutis-Silvia,
Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society and Heather Rockwell, Cetacean
Society International
Discover the fascinating history between whales and humans in
Massachusetts from pre-Colonial times to the 21st century.
 
March 23rd: Plankton - Earth's Tiny Lifelines with Karen Stamieszkin,
Associate Scientist, Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies
Learn how important and valuable these microscopic organisms are to life
in the ocean and on earth.

April 13th: American's Frontier Ecosystems - Cape Cod Bay & Nantucket
Sound with Theresa Barbo, Maritime Historian, Author and Director, Cape
Wildlife Center
Delve into the maritime and natural history of these two important
bodies of water that define Cape Cod. 

April 27th: The Ecology of Cape Cod Salt Marshes with Gil Newton, Author
and Teacher
Explore the diverse and ecologically important plants and animals that
inhabit salt marshes.
