Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a talk:

"Oyster Reef: Build It and They Will Grow"

Wednesday, August 18, 7:30 p.m.

Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary worked with the Town of Wellfleet, The
Nature Conservancy, NOAA, and other partners to establish an oyster reef
habitat on the sanctuary's tidal flats off Lieutenant Island. In
addition to restoring this former habitat, the goals of the project
included studying how the reef and oysters are impacted by natural
mortality, disease, and harvest. The reef's ecological benefits to the
area are also being examined.

In this presentation, Mark Faherty, Wellfleet Bay Science Coordinator,
will share information on the project's goals, implementation, and
update on how the reef is progressing.

The talk is held at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary located at 291
State Highway Route 6, South Wellfleet, MA. Admission is $3 for Mass
Audubon members and $5 for non-members and proceeds benefit Wellfleet
Bay's educational programs. No registration is required. For more
information contact the sanctuary at 508-349-2615.
