Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is organizing the Osprey
Project - a community-based project that monitors the productivity of
nesting ospreys across the Cape.
Details on this season's results will be shared on Wednesday, September
24 at 3 p.m. in a presentation/meeting at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary. Volunteers contributing data to this project have been
invited - but it is also open to any member of the public who is
interested in learning about the status of nesting ospreys on the Cape
or who wants to learn about getting involved in next year's monitoring
project. More volunteers are needed to collect data!
Also presented at this meeting will be details on the latest position of
"Goody Hallet" - the juvenile osprey that is tagged with a satellite
transmitter. With the help of UNC Biologist Rob Bierregaard and
financial support of a generous volunteer, "Goody" was tagged back in
late August. For more details on this exciting aspect of the Osprey
Project, including a weblink showing "Goody's" track, visit our blog at
