On Thursday, October 23 at 7:30 pm the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
will present author William Sargent on Sea Level Rise: The Chatham Story.
$3/Member, $5/Non-member. Following the program there will be a
wine-and-cheese reception and
book signing.
Mr. Sargent has written a number of books focusing on coastal issues and
locations.
In Just Seconds from the Ocean: Coastal Living in the Wake of Katrina
(2008), he examines the real potential for catastrophe in these seemingly
idyllic locations and how coastal dwellers perch precariously on the edge of
disaster.
A consultant for the NOVA Science series, Mr. Sargent's most recent
books, all published by University Press of New England, include Writing
Naturally: A Memoir (2006), The House on Ipswich Marsh (2005), Storm Surge:
A Coastal Village Battles the Rising Atlantic (2004), and Crab Wars: A Tale
of Horseshoe Crabs, Bioterrorism, and Human Health (2002).
Formerly director of the Baltimore Aquarium and a research assistant at the
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, William Sargent has taught at the
Briarwood Center for Marine Biology and Harvard University. (Notes from
University Press of New England website.)
