Have you always wanted a Wildflower Garden but not know just how to go about
planting one? Well this is your chance to have all your questions answered.
Ginny Barker Chairperson of the Nauset Garden Club Wildflower Garden, will
describe how the Lyn Peabody Wildflower garden was founded and about it's
maintenance by members of the Nauset Garden Club. We will learn how choices
for plantings are made and the ways in which elevation and availability of
light and moisture impact those choices. With the use of a slide
demonstration we will be able to see what flowers are in bloom, and also
have our own questions answered. Ginny will also talk about the great
reference material in our own library at CCMNH and how best to use it.

Ginny Barker has been gardening since the age of nine, however until joining
the Wildflower Garden Committee during the chairmanship of Ann Bennett, her
interest in wildflowers was chiefly one of appreciation rather than
cultivation. She now looks at those neglected spots as a site for
wildflowers rather than a spot to be mulched and ignored. A wonderful quote
for Ginny is "rather than transforming the location to support the bloom,
locate the natural bloom that will perform the transformation on its own."
