FISHERIES  MOVIE TO BE SHOWN AT CHURCH

Charles Darwin's 200th  birthday will be celebrated on February 12, 2009.     
The  Unitarian Universalist church in Falmouth, on Cape Cod, is one of 
several  religious organizations with a special interest in Darwin and  evolution.   
Darwin  events are being planned.
 
"Darwin's Nightmare" is a movie that will be shown at the Falmouth church  on 
Wednesday night, February 20, starting at 7:00 pm.   Free  admission.  All 
people invited.
 
The movie reports on conditions in Africa.  Nile perch were introduced  into 
Lake Victoria during the 1950s to provide a "cash crop" for export to  Europe. 
 What resulted was an ecological nightmare that introduced the  environmental 
justice concept to many people.
The  lake environment was transformed to benefit some at the expense  of 
others.
 
A good movie for people interested in commercial fishing and related  issues.
 
The local Sierra Club will assist with the February 20th  presentation.
