Come join us for 'DUXBURY BEACH EDUCATION NIGHT'!

The Duxbury Beach Preservation Society, a sub-unit of the the Duxbury Beach
Reservation Inc - owners in trust of the 4.5 mile long barrier beach - invites
you to 'Duxbury Beach Education Night', Wednesday March 7 from 7-9PM at
Battelle Labs in Duxbury.

The program includes a series of brief presentations exploring the coastal
geology of Duxbury Beach, its formation, shoreline evolution over time, and
various management activities that have taken place on the beach this year,
including the construction of a cobble berm for storm protection along the
road, various dune vegetation plantings, endangered piping plover nesting
patterns, and the creation of artificial plover habitat by burning strategic 
areas. Also, the beginnig of a natural resource inventory that will document
most of the plants and animals on the beach will be described.

This evening will feature coastal geologist and Duxbury Beach Reservation Vice
President Jim O'Connell, Duxbury Conservation Administrator Joe Grady, Duxbury
Beach Reservation's Technical Committe Chair Al Vautrinot, and Natural History
Services' David Clapp (former director of MA Audubon's South Shore Sanctuary).

DBR President Maggie Kearney will open with a brief description of the
soon-to-be-published 'Duxbury Beach Book'.

This event is free and open to the public.
