On Thursday, September 27 at 7:30 pm Dr. Jonathan Way will speak about his
ten years of research on eastern coyotes in his presentation Ecology and
Education of Eastern Coyotes in Eastern Massachusetts. A signing of his new
book Suburban Howls will follow his talk. Wine and cheese reception.
$5/member, $7/non-member.
Dr. Way is the leader of the eastern coyote ecology project in eastern
Massachusetts, which he began at Barnstable High School in 1993. His
long-term studies of the eastern coyote formed the basis of his doctoral
research at Boston College.
Though much has been written about coyote sightings, very little is known
about their behavior in suburban and urban settings. Dr. Way's research
includes free ranging studies on Cape Cod and in Boston; a captive study at
the Stone Zoo; and an educational component where he assesses student
learning of a coyote-based curriculum. His website
www.easterncoyoteresearch.com <http://www.easterncoyoteresearch.com/>
provides a comprehensive view of his research and his book Suburban Howls.
A recognized expert on the eastern coyote, Dr. Way will present a program of
great interest to everyone who cares for or is concerned about this
fascinating carnivore.
