The recent tsunami in the Indian Ocean has produced a major coastal crisis.
Over 150,000 people - in at least a dozen Asian nations - were killed. An
estimated two million people are still dependent on emergency relief
programs.

If you're involved with ocean studies, you may know some of these people.

On Wednesday night, January 26, the Cape Cod Council of Churches will host
several community gatherings on Cape Cod. People will have the opportunity to
join together to respond to the human suffering caused by the tsunami. It
will also be an opportunity to acknowledge some of the emergency workers and
caregivers.

In Falmouth, the January 26th gathering will take place at 7:00 pm at the
Unitarian Universalist meetinghouse. The meetinghouse is located at 840 Sandwich
Road in East Falmouth... People of all races, cultures, religions, and
nationalities are invited to this interfaith meeting. Everyone present will have
the opportunity to speak. Please bring a brief reading, poem, or prayer that
will be appropriate for the occasion.

For additional information and travel directions, please call the Unitarian
Universalist meetinghouse. TELEPHONE: (508) 457-0449. The Interfaith
Coalition is a co-sponsor of this event... Interfaith events for January 26th are
being planned for other towns. Check with local religious leaders and
newspapers for more information.
