Woods Hole Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension will be holding
a workshop on efforts to restore bay scallop populations in southern New
England that will be held as part of the Third Annual Northeastern
Aquaculture Conference and Exposition (NACE) to be held December 3-4 in
Manchester, New Hampshire.
The workshop, geared for coastal decision makers, researchers, NGOs,
students, and members of the public, will feature four sessions: Case
Studies, Site Selection, Monitoring and Assessment, and Community
Involvement. The workshop will also review past and present regional
restoration efforts, draw on experience from other geographic locations,
and formally recommend a prioritized research agenda for the region's
bay scallop restoration community. Furthermore, Dr. William Arnold of
the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida,
will provide a keynote talk on his extensive work on bay scallop
restoration entitled "Bay Scallop Population Restoration Activities in
Florida: Application and Assessment."
