AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS OFFER BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE OF CAPE COD MARINE
LIFE:
Pilot and Photographer Tim Voorheis to showcase his images at Mass Audubon
on October 14

As a pilot and fish spotter for tuna and sword fishermen, Chatham resident
Tim Voorheis spends his summer days in an airplane high above the waters
surrounding Cape Cod. In the course of his job he has taken hundreds of
photographs of numerous whale species, dolphins, baitfish, and game fish, as
well as images of the cold-water upwelling southeast of the Cape and the
associated currents that help define the Cape and Islands. Tim Voorheis will
share his images and stories of his adventures in flight at a slide
presentation at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on Thursday, October 14
at 7 p.m. Voorheis showed his images at Audubon earlier this summer to a
sold-out crowd. In his return engagement he promises exciting new
photographs.

Humpback whales, Risso’s dolphins, bluefin tuna, basking sharks, and
planktonic creatures called salps are among the wildlife Tim has captured on
film. He also captures wildlife behavior including schooling tuna and
bubble-net feeding of humbacks (a rare feeding pattern different than
bubble-cloud feeding). Dramatic and beautifully composed, his images provide
a unique perspective on the marine life of Cape Cod.

Cost for the lecture is $4 for Mass Audubon members and $5 for nonmembers.
Registration is required. This is a popular program. Call to reserve your
