The North and South Rivers Watershed Association (NSRWA) seeks a part-time
Project Manager to help implement the organization’s Low Impact Development
(LID) training program for municipal officials. Low Impact Development
refers to a set of landscape and development techniques that encourage
infiltration of stormwater at the lot level to reduce run off, increase
ground water recharge and reduce non-point source pollution. The LID
Project Manager will serve as the NSRWA’s liaison with a stormwater
technical consultant and the four South Shore communities participating in
the project: Plymouth, Kingston, Pembroke and Hanover. The ideal candidate
will hold a master’s degree in an environmental-related field and/or land
use planning, have 2-5 years experience working in the environmental field,
and be a motivated self-starter who has the ability to work both
independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will also possess:
strong written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with the South
Shore communities, experience with stormwater management, familiarity with
LID concepts, and general knowledge about community-based social marketing
techniques. Tasks will include grant administration; subcontractor
management; facilitation of meetings, workshops, and fieldtrips with
multiple stakeholders; marketing and public relations; and reporting. This
two-year position will average 10 hours a week, with a variable work
schedule contingent upon the various stages of the project. The position
requires occasional attendance at evening meetings and reliable
transportation. Salary is commensurate with experience and in the range of
$15-$20 per hour. Possibilities exist for increasing the contract hours to
include additional responsibilities within the organization. Please submit
cover letter, resume and references to Wendy Garpow, Director of Community
Programs, NSRWA, P.O. Box 43, Norwell, MA 02061 or email wendy at nsrwa.org.
Application deadline is September 1, 2004 and anticipated start date is
September 15, 2004.
