Earth Celebration!
Barnstable County Fairgrounds, Route 151, Falmouth, MA
May 17, 2003
10:00-3:00
FREE!
 
A day of fun activities, environmental information displays, lectures, 
food, music, and energy efficient rebates to celebrate, conserve, and 
protect the environment.  The event is free!  There will be many 
activities for children including: Flush the Kids, an interactive septic 
system display; the Landfill Tunnel; marine animal touch tanks; a 
storyteller; and crafts made from recycled materials.  There will be 
free lunch and free Ben & Jerry's.  Cape Light Compact will also be 
sponsoring a torchere trade-in and free rebates for energy efficient 
applicances.  A lecture series will be going on starting at noon.  The 
schedule is as follows:
 


  12:00 to 12:25pm "Chronology of a Miracle:  A Mother Octopus and her
  Eggs,"


    Jonathan Flynn, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History

           

12:30 to 12:55pm "Your Families Biggest Environmental Impact:  Your 
Automobile,"  Megan Amsler, Cape and Islands Self-Reliance 

 

1:00 to 1:25pm "Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge:  The habitat, the 
mission and visitor opportunities," Sharon Marino, Monomoy National 
Wildlife Refuge

             


  1:30 to 1:55pm "Environmental Justice and the Sierra Club," Rev.
  Robert Murphy, Sierra Club

 

2:00 to 2:25pm "Lawns and Landscapes:  Environmentally healthy ways to 
keep them beautiful," Sue Phelan, Green Cape

            


  2:30 to 2:55pm "Butterfly and Wildflower Slide Show" Alison Robb,
  Nature's Circle
