THE SOUNDS CONSERVANCY PROGRAM

In 1995, the Atlantic Center took over the assets and mission of The
Sounds Conservancy when that organization's founder, Christopher Percy,
retired. Since then, the Atlantic Center has continued its series of
publications and manages a grants program to support marine education
and research in the region that stretches from Long Island Sound to
Nantucket Sound. The annual deadline for the grants program is the 15th
of March. Grants do not exceed $2,500 and are designed especially to
support students with marine science research projects. A small portion
of funds are available to support local nonprofits with public education
and outreach efforts. Grants are distributed from four funds: The Sounds
Conservancy Fund, the Charles W. Kitchings Fund, Norcross Wildlife Fund,
and the Race Rock Regatta Fund.
