Wind Farms: Generating Power, Generating Controversy
=20
A renewable alternative form of energy is blowing in the wind and =
knocking on the door of SE Massachusetts - Wind Energy. Nantucket Sound =
and Buzzards Bay have been recently proposed as locations for off-shore =
wind energy farms. While harnessing the power of the wind is not a novel =
concept worldwide, it is for SE Massachusetts, and has therefore sparked =
earnest discussion. What do we need to consider when deciding if =
off-shore wind energy is right for this region?
=20
The panelists for this discussion represent many sides of the issue. =
James Gordon, President, Cape Wind Associates, and John Donelan, =
Associate Director, Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, will discuss =
the benefits and pitfalls of building wind turbines along our coasts. =
Comment on legal issues surrounding the wind farm proposals will be =
provided by Seth Kaplan of Conservation Law Foundation. There will be =
opportunity for questions and comments from the audience, so come with =
an open mind.
