[SEMCO] 2 Positions Open at Waquoit Bay Reserve

Applications are being accepted until March 5, 2002 for the following two positions at the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Waquoit, MA.

1. Stewardship Coordinator
This new position at the Waquoit Bay NERR will be responsible for supporting long-term preservation of the Reserve=C0s natural resources. Since stewardship activities involve aspects of research, monitoring, education, policy and traditional forest and parks management, the Stewardship Coordinator will work as part of a team with the Reserve=C0s Research Coordinator, Education Coordinator, Forest and Parks Supervisor and Reserve Manager. Since the long-term health of the Reserve=C0s resources are dependent on land use in the entire watershed, and since the Reserve has regulatory jurisdiction only on DEM owned land and not on the open water within the Reserve, the person in this position will also work closely with local and state officials, and with local land owners.


2. Water Quality Monitoring Coordinator/Technician.
Under the supervision of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve Manager and Research Coordinator, the Coastal Monitoring Coordinator / Technician will be responsible for helping to meet the goals of two coastal water monitoring efforts underway at the Reserve:

a. Act as Technical Specialist for the Reserve=C0s own on-site water quality monitoring programs (NERR=C0s System-Wide-Monitoring-Program (SWMP) and our volunteer-staffed citizen water quality monitoring program for Waquoit Bay (BayWatchers) 
b. Act as Coordinator and Regional Service Provider for citizen water quality monitoring organizations on Cape Cod and the Islands
