Subject: Wetland Research Conference

A note to everyone interested in wetland science, policy and management:

The New England Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists is hosting
its first annual Regional Wetland Research Conference, to be held in
Worcester MA this fall. Please help us make this conference a success -
we are trying to bring consultants, non-profits, academics, naturalists
and others interested in wetland science, policy and management together
to share the results of their work and increase the communication among
these groups. We need you (and your wetland science friends,
co-workers, etc.) to submit papers for this conference. We particularly
encourage students to present a paper or poster.

Help us make this conference a success by (1) Passing this message along
to everyone you know who might be interested, including non-profit
groups, conservation commissions, agencies, consulting firms, etc.; (2)
Submitting an abstract by June 11 - see details below- and (3) Attending
the conference this fall!

Details on submitting papers and registering for the conference are
enclosed below. =20
Thanks for your time and interest.=20

Also, I am enclosing a message from one of our SWS-New England members
who is seeking information on vernal pool mitigation. Adam Welchel
writes: I am in the process of gathering information on specific
projects that have

involved vernal pool mitigation in New England. I am particularly
curious=20
about wetland design, approaches, techniques, and the degree of
regulatory=20
oversight on mitigation projects involving vernal pools. In my initial=20
search via the internet I found a tremendous amount of general
information=20
on vernal pools in NE but, not so much on specific projects. I am
assuming=20
it is buried in the gray literature. =20
Please contact Adam_Whelchel@URSCorp.com if you have any information on
this topic.=20
