Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
SEASONAL NATURALIST
Spend your summer as a Naturalist at a 1000-acre coastal sanctuary on
Cape Cod. Lead guided field walks and programs for adults, families, and
children on-site. Conduct seal cruises, birding trips, and other
wildlife tours within the Cape Cod National Seashore, Monomoy National
Wildlife Refuge, and other locations. Provide visitor information and
general interpretation of the Sanctuary and coastal community. Other
duties may include preparing and assembling exhibits, helping with
maintenance projects, and assisting in ecological management and
wildlife research. Must have (or working towards) a Bachelor’s Degree
in biology, wildlife biology, environmental studies or related field;
knowledge of basic principles of ecology and natural history; strong
background in field identification of birds (especially shorebirds);
knowledge of marine biology and coastal ecosystems preferred; Red Cross
certification in basic first aid and CPR preferred. Period of
employment is June 17?August 30, 2002, with possible extensions before
and after season.
