WCS seeks a Coordinator to assist with a project to finalize a national 
plan for the expansion of fisheries replenishment zones, establish the 
structure and partnerships to take the plan forward, and organize and 
coordinate the activities of the partners to implement and fulfill the 
objectives of the plan.

Summary of Position
The primary role of the Project Coordinator, who will be based in the 
WCS office in Belize City, is to lead and manage the activities of the 
Replenishment Zones Expansion Project in Belize that is being 
implemented by WCS and its partners, under the guidance and supervision 
of the Project Steering Committee. The Project Coordinator will serve as 
the WCS focal point for collaboration of NGO and government agency 
partners in implementing the project. The Project Coordinator will 
report directly to the WCS Country Director.

Director, Federal Fisheries Campaign, Pew Charitable Trusts

Washington, DC

The Federal Fisheries Campaign is the national component of Pew’s 
efforts to promote abundant and resilient fish populations, sustainable 
fisheries, and healthy marine ecosystems in Washington, DC and 
regionally around the U.S. At the national level, this work includes 
defending and enhancing the conservation provisions of the 
Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA), the 
federal law that governs management of U.S. ocean fish, with a focus on 
ending overfishing and rebuilding depleted fish populations; ensuring 
strong federal regulations and guidelines; promoting sustainable and 
adequate funding for fisheries science and management; and advocating 
for the adoption of ecosystem-based fisheries management.

Position Overview: The director reports to the director, U.S. Fisheries 
Campaigns, and is based in Washington, DC.  This person will lead the 
Federal Fisheries Campaign and will be responsible for developing 
strategic and operational plans for the project; overseeing and managing 
all policy aspects of the federal fisheries campaign; communicating 
summaries to Pew personnel, government officials and the media; and 
initiating and regularly maintaining contacts with conservation and 
fishing organizations and other stakeholders as needed.  The director 
will also serve as a liaison to Pew’s U.S. fisheries campaigns and lead 
Pew’s MSA reauthorization efforts.  The director will be a member of the 
U.S. fisheries campaigns senior leadership team. It is expected that 
this position is for a term period through March 31, 2014, pending the 
success of the program, funding sources and board decisions on continued 
support.

Senior Associate, Federal Fisheries Policy, Pew Charitable Trusts

Washington, DC

The Senior Associate reports to the Manager, Federal Fisheries Policy 
Campaign, and is located in Washington, DC. The Senior Associate will be 
responsible for helping the Federal Fisheries Policy team research, 
analyze,develop and influence laws and regulations impacting management 
of wild ocean fish populations in the U.S. In particular, the Senior 
Associate will play a major role in developing Pew’s MSA reauthorization 
agenda and in analyzing the impact of other proposals to amend the MSA. 
Finally, the senior associate will be responsible for tracking 
appropriations for fisheries science and management, and developing 
proposals for long-term funding. The successful candidate will have a 
working knowledge of environmental policy and preferably fisheries 
policy, as well as knowledge of the legislative process. It is expected 
that this position is for a term period through March 31, 2014, with the 
possibility of an extension pending the success of the program, funding 
sources and board decisions on continued support.

Fish Forever Program Coordinator, EDF

Overall Function

The Program Coordinator is a member of the Fish Forever team within the 
Oceans program, which is based primarily in the Washington, DC 
office.EDF’s Oceans Program works to improve the health of the oceans 
via innovative and durable solutions to today’s toughest fishery 
management challenges. The Program Coordinator will provide budget and 
administrative leadership and support for the Fish Forever team and 
participate in all aspects of the Oceans Program. Independent judgment 
is required to plan, prioritize and organize your workload within this 
busy program. This is an excellent opportunity to use core business 
skills in support of a transformational project on a complex 
environmental issue, and to gain knowledge of current oceans and 
fisheries policy matters.


        Key Responsibilities

  * Coordinate with the Program Director and program staff to help
    ensure the team is working together and that project goals and
    deliverables are achieved. Assist the team in developing and
    tracking project plans, proposals and reports
  * Work with program management, program staff, finance staff and
    development staff to develop annual budget submission and grant budgets
  * Work closely with Fish Forever partners’ respective program
    coordinators to facilitate effective and efficient communication on
    core aspects of the project among partners
  * Review monthly reports of actual vs. projected budget results;
    investigate, analyze and explain variances from budget for income
    and expense line items; advise program managers, program staff and
    finance staff on trends and issues of concern
  * Apply excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills
    by responding to requests for information, helping to coordinate
    activities and projects for the team and preparing correspondence
    and reports as needed
  * Administer contracts for consultants, including assistance in
    writing, processing contracts, and working with program staff and
    consultants to ensure the obligations of contracts are fulfilled and
    invoices are submitted in a timely fashion.
  * Maintain schedules and provide travel arrangements for program
    leadership (Program Director)
  * Oversee the administrative processes of the EDF Fish Forever team,
    including expense reporting and invoice processing; follow through
    with Finance staff to ensure payments are made
  * Manage other administrative tasks associated with staff, consultants
    and interns, including logistics, office needs, and telecommunications
  * Maintain and update file libraries for team
  * Assist Oceans Program staff and other Environmental Defense Fund
    colleagues to better communicate and coordinate on joint projects


        Qualifications

  * Demonstrated success in project management with a variety of
    partners strongly preferred
  * A Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years professional experience,
    preferably with some day to day administration experience; PMP
    certification is a plus
  * Experience with budgeting, accounting and/or bookkeeping
  * Excellent time management and administration skills
  * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  * Good sense of humor and ability to work in a fast-paced
    multi-tasking environment
  * Superior skills in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project
    Management tools
  * International experience preferred and an additional language a
    plus, particularly Balinese or Indonesian
  * Ability and willingness to work as a strong team player, while at
    the same time able to work independently for long periods and as a
    self-starter
  * Ability and willingness to travel – up to 25% of the time, mostly
    internationally
  * An understanding of and commitment to Environmental Defense Fund’s
    mission of protecting the natural environment and limiting
    humankind’s impact on the planet
