The person who asked me to post this said that Matlab would be a strong 
substitute for Java experience.

Ocean Scientist / Java Developer

ASA, Inc. is seeking marine scientist/engineer with strong Java software 
development skills to support research, data management, and software 
development for a variety of projects related to coastal modeling, ocean 
observing, and environmental impact assessments.

Ideal candidates will have an undergraduate or graduate degree program 
related to ocean engineering, oceanography or related environmental 
sciences and engineering studies. Candidates must have a strong 
background in managing environmental data and programming with Java. 
Experience with Matlab, GIS, or other software development environments 
is a plus.

The successful applicant must have strong writing and verbal 
communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work on highly 
interactive project teams.
