below from capenews.net:

If you want to get to know someone, the old adage suggests, you walk a
mile in their shoes. In the play “Weekend Comedy” by Jeanne and Sam
Brobick, the playwrights suggest you spend a weekend at a secluded cabin
with them.

The play is being staged through March 23 by the Woods Hole Theater
Company at the Woods Hole Community Hall. Annie Hart Cool directs.

Older couple Frank (Tom Pucci) and Peggy (Davien Gould) have just barely
arrived at the cabin for their first vacation alone in what seems to
Peggy as an eternity, when a much younger couple, Jill (Kimberly
Emerald) and Tony (Greg Pucci) burst through the door having been
mistakenly booked in the same cabin for the weekend.

After some back and forth, Jill and Tony finally offer to leave,
acquiescing to Frank’s elementary school-like claim on the cabin: “We
were here first.” Frank then relents when the younger couple offer him
and Peggy a bottle of expensive champagne, saying that he’ll accept the
gift only if the other couple stay and drink it with them. What starts
out as dinner turns into an entire long weekend in which truths are
revealed and the couples learn about each other and about themselves.
And while that all sounds warm, fuzzy, and heartfelt, fear not, there
are many laughs and one-liners, and bad behavior along the way.

The generation gap is seemingly vast. It’s Porsches versus trucks, beer
versus champagne, frozen dinners versus home cooking, and routines
versus spontaneity; but in the end it turns out both couples want the
same thing. Someone who will be there for them.

All four performers are excellent in their roles. Tom Pucci as the
likable curmudgeon, Davien Gould as the long-suffering wife, Kimberly
Emerald as the bubbly model, and Greg Pucci as the yuppie real estate
agent. The four interact well together and their exchanges seem natural.

The set is simple but effective; a good fit for the community hall. A
room interior with a couch, table, coffee table, and kitchen. Platforms
beyond the stage give the actors more room to move around and to get
closer to the audience.

Despite the Trump re-election joke, there were moments when the play
felt dated. I wanted to shake Peggy a number of times when she kept
folding and tidying up the cabin and tell her, “Enough! It’s not your
job to clean up.” I also felt that the younger Mr. Pucci might be a
little too likable to play the yuppie Tony. He just seemed too nice for
the role. But those complaints are minor; all in all this is an
endearing, if not overly compelling play. One in which couples are
likely to see at least a little of themselves and their spouse in one or
more of the characters and enjoy a few shared laughs along the way.

“Weekend Comedy” continues March 22, and 23 at 7:30 PM.

*The final concert season of the Woods Hole Folk Music Society is
winding down. The penultimate show will feature Scottish harper and
composer William Jackson on March 24.*

*The concert will take place at 7:30 PM in the Woods Hole Community
Hall. Doors open at 7 PM. Admission is $20 with discounts for members,
seniors, youth and children. The community hall is handicapped
accessible, and street parking is free after 6 PM.*

*An internationally known harper and composer, William Jackson has been
at the forefront of Scottish traditional music for three decades. He is
recognized as one of the leading harpers and multi-instrumentalists in
Scotland, and has gained an international reputation as an innovative
composer, combining traditional Celtic influences with classical
instrumentation in several of his works.*

*At age 13 Mr. Jackson began playing with folk bands, first on guitar
and banjo, and later on bass and electric bass. He was a founding member
and creative leader of one of Scotland’s best-loved traditional bands,
Ossian.*

*
**Touring extensively in Europe and North America, Mr. Jackson has
gained a reputation as a masterful performer of traditional music
featuring the Scottish harp. Along with harp, he also plays tin whistle,
bouzouki, bodhran (Irish drum) and piano. Along with music from his
homeland, Mr. Jackson has been strongly influenced by Irish music in his
compositions.**
*

*A highly sought-after composer, Mr. Jackson has created several large
commissioned works, including pieces for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra,
for the 2002 opening of the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, and
for the Asheville Symphony in North Carolina. In December 2008 Mr.
Jackson was a featured guest artist with the Cape Cod Symphony,
performing his composition “Columcille” and delivering a new commission,
“Christmas Day,” showcasing his innovative orchestration of traditional
Scottish melodies.*

*In 1999 Mr. Jackson composed a song called “Land of Light,” which won
the Song for Scotland competition that year. The song was performed at
Edinburgh Castle in July 2000 to mark the 100th birthday of the Queen
Mother, and was also featured at the 2000 Edinburgh Tattoo.*

*Mr. Jackson has several movie and TV credits to his name, including
music for the Battle of the Clans documentary on the History Channel, as
well as for Scottish television and the BBC. His performance on harp,
whistle and bodhran is featured on the soundtrack of the movie “A Shot
at Glory,” which was filmed in Scotland and starred Robert Duval and
Michael Keaton.*

*As a composer, Mr. Jackson created a new genre called “folk orchestra,”
marrying folk instruments with classical orchestrations. In 2016, he was
recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Somerset Folk Harp
Festival for his far-reaching impact on Scottish traditional music.*

*The Woods Hole Community Hall is at 68 Water Street*

*OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE TUTORING PROGRAM, available for the MBL
International Community (READ AT BOTTOM FOR whoi NOTE)*

For many years we have had an informal language tutoring program to
assist members of our international community
who asked for assistance using the English language in your work and in
your day - to - day life.

This conversational program has always been informal, we have based it
upon training held at MBL and WHOI over the years,
and our own experiences living in countries outside of the US.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has ranged from assisting people who think they would like extra
experience speaking English either professionally or in everyday
conversation, or both areas.
What the program is not...is a structured grammar program. There's
another program in in Falmouth which is more structured around grammar.
Sometimes we have even assisted more fluent speakers of English who wish
to increase their speaking opportunities within the context of their
lives, sometimes as informally as having lunch together, or taking a
walk around Eel Pond.
We pair up volunteers from the MBL community for one hour a week with
people seeking language assistance, when people let us know they are
interested in having a language tutor.
We have done one-on-one tutoring, tutoring around lunch time,
tutoring while hiking around Woods Hole.
Just respond to me if you are interested in this - and I will get back
to you. Matt - mperson at mbl.edu
( If you are reading this and you are from WHOI, contact Andrew Daly
adaly at whoi.edu )
