Hello everyone,
Brian Bill and I sampled a Heterosigma bloom in southern Sequim Bay
today (near Sequim Bay State Park) and Karlista Rickerson has reported a
bloom of Heterosigma at Dockton, Quartermaster Harbor.
Please keep your eyes open for any dead or dying fish and let the list
know if Heterosigma blooms or any other HABs are observed in other
locations in Washington State.
The first closure by the Washington State Department of Health due to
confirmed levels of DSP toxins above the regulatory limit (tested by US
FDA and NOAA) has been imposed for Sequim Bay. This includes a product
recall back to any shellfish sold on August 1 or later.
