Arctic Exploration with Author Larry Millman
Lawrence Millman joins us as part of Highfield’s annual Science & Environment Speaker Series highlighting the important work being done by the local scientific and environmental community and making their research and information accessible through informed dialogue. This year’s theme is Climate Resiliency: Understanding and managing the impact of climate change.
Larry will be discussing his experiences in the Arctic, with a focus on change — both climate and cultural change. Among other things, you’ll learn that warmer weather is attracting more tourists, and more tourists = more cultural change. He’ll also be reading from several of his books, including Goodbye, Ice and The Last Speaker of Bear (both of which will be for sale at the event).
Larry’s experiences and insights will enhance your understanding of our summer exhibit ‘In Flux: Perspectives on Arctic Change from Woodwell Art Science Fellows’ so be sure to plan a visit!
