Funding Opportunity: $1 Million for Research on Fishing Community Interactions with Offshore Wind Development


The Northeast Sea Grant Consortium, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center, announces a research funding opportunity to improve understanding of fishing community interactions with offshore wind development in the Northeast U.S.

Approximately $1 million will be available to support projects in three topical research areas:



  *   Offshore Wind Development Planning and Engagement
  *   Understanding Fisheries and Offshore Wind Development Interactions
  *   Monitoring of Offshore Wind Development and Fisheries Interactions


Budget requests may not exceed $400,000 in federal funds throughout the duration of the project (up to three years). A 25% non-federal match is required. Letters of intent are due February 15, 2024, by 5:00 p.m. ET, with full proposals due April 1, 2024. An informational RFP webinar will be hosted on January 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
