Making a Difference: Cape Cod Environmental Discussions

Please join us Wednesday, August 23 at 5:30 pm for Mirta Teichberg, Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL).

Highfield Hall & Gardens is pleased to announce the continuation of our Summer Lecture Series, with Dr. Mirta Teichberg, talking about Challenges and Opportunities for seagrass recovery and restoration around Cape Cod.


On August 23rd, Dr. Mirta Teichberg, Assoc. Scientist and Director,Marine Biological Laboratory, will talk about a subject much discussed and valued on the Cape-seagrasses in the region, their importance to the ecosystem, and what we can do to promote their recovery and restoration.
As a marine ecologist, Dr. Teichberg is focused on the responses of plants and their communities to environmental change. At the MBL, her studies promote seagrass recovery on Cape Cod, regionally, and abroad by improving water quality and finding successful methods of seagrass restoration. She works closely with local stakeholders from the community and aims to integrate seagrass restoration with sustainable aquaculture activities, applying nature-based solutions to environmental problems.
Dr. Teichberg received a BA from St. Mary's College of Maryland, and MA and Ph.D. from the Boston University Marine Program. She has been at MBL since 2021 working in the Ecosytems Center but has been coming to Woods Hole since 2001, working in Waquoit Bay among other sites including temperate estuaries and tropical coral reef and seagrass ecosystems.
