<span style="color:black">On August 23<sup>rd</sup>, Dr. Mirta Teichberg, Assoc. Scientist and Director,Marine Biological Laboratory, will talk about a subject much discussed and valued on the Cape—seagrasses in the region, their importance to the ecosystem,
and what we can do to promote their recovery and restoration.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;margin-left:.5in;background:white">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black">As a marine ecologist, Dr. Teichberg is focused on the responses of plants and their communities to environmental change. At the MBL, her studies promote seagrass recovery on Cape Cod, regionally, and abroad by improving
water quality and finding successful methods of seagrass restoration. She works closely with local stakeholders from the community and aims to integrate seagrass restoration with sustainable aquaculture activities,
</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black">applying nature-based solutions to environmental problems.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in;background:white"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black">Dr. Teichberg received a BA from
</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:black">St. Mary's College of Maryland, and MA and Ph.D. from the Boston University Marine Program. She has been at MBL since 2021 working in the Ecosytems Center but has been coming to Woods Hole since 2001, working
in Waquoit Bay among other sites including temperate estuaries and tropical coral reef and seagrass ecosystems.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
