Greetings COMFOOD friends,
There's an exciting opportunity to join TerraCorps this December and spend 8 months serving with one of our nonprofit partners in Massachusetts. This winter we are looking for members to join our team for an 8-month term of service (December 9, 2021-July 29, 2022). TerraCorps Service Members receive a living allowance, education award and additional AmeriCorps benefits.
TerraCorps<http://www.terracorps.org/> is an AmeriCorps affiliated environmental nonprofit growing a more equitable ecosystem of people and organizations to protect and steward land for broader good. We do this by supporting AmeriCorps members who serve with nonprofit organizations across MA, CT and RI to tackle issues around land access, sustainable agriculture, and conservation. At this time we are looking to fill a Land Stewardship Coordinator (LSC) position with New England Forestry Foundation.
Land Stewardship Coordinators (LSC) Build the long-term capacity of their Service Sites by creating networks of volunteers to support hands-on stewardship of community lands. They organize, train, and collaborate with municipal boards, neighborhood and civic associations, community members, youth groups, and schools to care for, improve access to, and support the long-term resiliency and sustainable use of community lands. By providing training and organizing collaborative land-focused projects, they increase resources for community projects, demonstrate environmentally responsible land management, help individuals build skills, and nurture an inclusive sense of public ownership in the local landscape. LSCs generally spend roughly 60% of their time in the office and 40% in the field.
The LSC position with NEFF includes projects such as: assisting with annual CR/CE monitoring, training volunteers on stewardship tasks and the use of field software, assist with recruitment, training and coordination of NEFF's Community Forest Steward Program, and involvement in establishing stewardship partnerships with other institutions. TerraCorps Service Members serve in full-time (38 hour/week), 8-month positions from December 9, 2021- July 29th, 2022. These 1,200-hour AmeriCorps positions receive a living allowance of $11,520 and are eligible for an education award of up to $4,441, plus additional AmeriCorps benefits. Application specifics, position descriptions, and additional information about how to apply can be found at https://terracorps.org/member-position-listing/
AmeriCorps programs provide equal opportunities. TerraCorps will recruit and select persons in all positions to ensure a diverse and inclusive climate without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, color, political affiliation, creed, national origin, marital status, or any other status as protected by federal, state, and local laws. We encourage applications from individuals with disabilities and will provide reasonable accommodations for interviews and service upon request.
Many thanks,
Maria I.
