Hello Ocean Lovers,
Join OPAK for the next installment of our Virtual Ocean Café Series and
learn about the status of the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine
National Monument with Dr. Kelly Kryc. Dr. Kryc is the Director of Ocean
Policy at the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life at the New England
Aquarium and an OPAK Board Member. This talk will take place on Thurs. Feb.
18th at 7pm EST on Zoom. Learn more about Kelly and OPAK at
www.opakedu.org/events
The Marine Monument is located ~130 miles east-southeast of Cape Cod and is
about the size of Connecticut. Overall, the monument protects three canyons
and four seamounts which contain pristine deep sea ecosystems, rich
biodiversity, deep sea corals and habitat for endangered whales, sea
turtles and other marine mammals. Dr. Kryc will give us an update on the
protections in place, their progress and an overview of the precious marine
life that lives there!
We ask that you pre-register at www.opakedu.org/events/kelly-kryc
