Climate Conversation on Tap at Cape Cod Beer on March 28th
The actions we can take to solve the climate crisis, on a personal, local,
and national level, will be the topics on tap at a community forum sponsored
by 350 Cape Cod on Thursday March 28th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cape Cod
Beer (1336 Phinney¹s Lane, Hyannis). The program is free and open to the
public, with cash bar.
The event, ³Green New Deal, Green Energy, Green Diet² will feature remarks
from three expert speakers, followed by a Q&A and discussion. Dylan
Fernandes is a State Representative Martha¹s Vineyard, Falmouth, and
Nantucket. Rep. Fernandes will offer perspective on priority energy and
climate bills during this legislative session, and will touch upon the
federal Green New Deal. Carol Oldham is executive director of the Mass
Climate Action Network, a nonprofit fighting climate change at the local
level. She will discuss green aggregation, an emerging approach to
substantially increase community-wide purchasing of renewable energy while
building demand for new green power projects in New England. Dr. Jane Ward
was a career US Air Force ophthalmologist and flight surgeon, earned a
Master¹s of Public Health from Georgetown University, and has been a green
building advocate and educator. She is certified in Life-style Medicine and
partners with her patients through plant-based and whole food nutrition,
exercise, and stress management.
350 Cape Cod is a local chapter of the global climate solutions group
350.org <http://350.org/> and 350 Massachusetts for a Better Future, a
grassroots climate network in Massachusetts. The name comes from 350 parts
per million, the safe level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. We are now
at 411 ppm.
