THORNTON BURGESS NATURE CLUB MEETS MONTHLY

A new in-depth adult natural history course is being offered by the Thornton
W. Burgess Society with the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. On the
first Saturday of each month through December 1, explore a seasonal natural
history topic with a local naturalist/citizen scientist. Study broad
perspectives of unique Cape Cod, the individual details of specific species,
adaptation, climate change and the impact of the legacy of Thornton Burgess.
Bring your curiosity to explore and discover the nature around you. Bring
water, snack, binoculars, hand lens, etc. On October 6 from 9am to noon,
the topic is Wild Food with Rachel Goclawski. The program focuses on
foraging basics including foraging safety, identifying edibles, collection,
preparation and preservation plus foraging ethics. Set out on the Green
Briar grounds to forage, applying all the things learned. Additional months
are Insects in Winter on November 3 and Migrant Winter Birds on December 1.
These programs are open to adults and teens ages 16 and up. Fee per session
is $30. Call 508-888-6870 to register.
