[SEMCO] It's Earth Science Week- celebrate with your 2018 Ocean Literacy Summit registration, TODAY!

Did you know that this week (October 14-20, 2018) is Earth Science Week?  This yearly, international event helps students and the broader public gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth sciences and encourages stewardship of the planet. This year’s event celebrates the theme "Earth as inspiration”, emphasizing artistic expression as a unique and powerful tool for geosciences education.

What better way to celebrate 2018’s Earth Science Week than to register for the 2018 Ocean Literacy Summit <http://www.neosec.dreamhosters.com/2018-ocean-literacy-summit/>! This year’s Summit has a geoscience connection (Ocean Literacy Principle 2: "The ocean and life in the ocean shape the features of Earth <http://oceanliteracy.wp2.coexploration.org/ocean-literacy-framework/principle-2-v2/>”), and there will also be an art show sponsored by Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs <https://bowseat.org/>!

The 2018 Ocean Literacy Summit is taking place November 15 & 16, 2018, in Boston, MA, hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Boston and Northeastern University Marine Science Center.  Register NOW <http://www.neosec.dreamhosters.com/membership-join/membership-registration/> and join the New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative <http://www.neosec.dreamhosters.com/> for two days of engaging workshops, field trips, networking opportunities, and presentations! There are still opportunities to sponsor, exhibit, present during the science and education fair, and participate in the art show! Single-day registration rates are also available.  Please remember, however, that online registration will close November 1.

Also, don’t wait to book your lodging for the Summit! Limited rooms remain at the DoubleTree Hilton, located near UMass Boston, at a preferred rate for Summit guests (for November 14 - November 17, 2018).
