Free public screening of groundbreaking documentary about fracking comes to
Sandwich Public Library on May 31st.



Sandwich, MA.  350 Mass Cape Cod, the local climate action group, is hosting
a free public screening of the groundbreaking documentary, Gasland by Josh
Fox, at the Sandwich Public Library on Thursday, May 31 from 6:00 p.m. to
8:15 p.m. 



After the screening, 350 Mass Cape Cod will lead discussion on the continued
push for fracked-gas infrastructure in Massachusetts, including Canal 3, the
new power plant being built in Sandwich.



Gasland is widely hailed for raising awareness of the environmental and
human health risks associated with the drilling for gas and oil by
hydrofracking, also known as ³fracking.²



About the film: When Josh Fox receives a $100,000 offer from a natural gas
company to explore on his Pennsylvania land, he decides to do his own
research on drilling and the process known as fracking. Josh sets out to
interview those who live near drilling sites, and his findings are
frightening -- their wells contaminated, residents can actually set their
tap water on fire. Visits to sites in Colorado, Wyoming and Texas yield
similar horrific findings.
