GREEN BRIAR GARDEN TOUR IN SANDWICH
Mark the calendar now to enjoy a summer's day on Cape Cod visiting six
premier gardens in the Historic Town of Sandwich on Wednesday, July 11.
Visit the gardens at your leisure anytime between 10am and 4pm during the
annual Garden Tour to benefit the Thornton W. Burgess Society and its
award-winning Wildflower Garden at the Green Briar Nature Center. Learn
from the thoughtful gardeners who showcase the multiple sides of gardening
design and cultivation in their home gardens. Each garden on the tour
offers something a little different. Three of the gardens are located in
the Sandwich Village Area: The Hedge House on Summer Street, A Homestead
Garden on Main Street, and An Historical Wonder Garden on Jarves Street.
This garden will only be open to tours from Noon to 4pm. The other three
gardens are in East Sandwich: A Life Portrait Garden on Village Drive,
Hilltop Gardens on Janell Lane, and the Wildflower Garden at Green Briar,
where light refreshments will be served.
Tickets and a map with directions to each garden are available at the Green
Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road (just off Route 6A), East
Sandwich. A ticket covering all six gardens may be purchased for $30, or
individual gardens may be visited for a fee of $5 (exact cash to be paid at
each garden). Purchase your ticket in advance or on the day of the tour.
For further information, call 508-888-6870. The Green Briar Garden Tour is
partnering with the Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival, a 10 day event which
includes towns throughout the Cape.
