Friday, April 6, from 3 - 5pm, at the Harbor View Conference Room in the County Complex (3195 Main Street, Barnstable).
Professor Brian Howes and the Cape Cod Commission's Tom Cambareri, will present a revealing and riveting Massachusetts Estuaries Study of the Harbor.
In 1978 Barnstable Harbor was designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern. The town of Barnstable developed a comprehensive water quality monitoring program to establish current water quality conditions in the harbor and monitor it for changes over time. The Mass Estuaries Project builds upon those efforts and previous hydrodynamic studies.
The draft Study, a comprehensive 213 page document prepared over the last several years, was released a few months ago. The lead author, Brian Howe, will present the Results using graphics and charts.
To understand the pressures of development, commercial use, stormwater, etc. on the ecology of the Harbor and the Great Marsh, please attend. Seating is limited. If you would like to reserve a place, call me at the number below.
This free event is part of a lecture series of The Friends of Barnstable Harbor.
