CAPE COD CRANBERRY DAY AT GREEN BRIAR
Spend an early fall day enjoying all that the Green Briar Nature Center &
Jam Kitchen has to offer during Cape Cod Cranberry Day on Saturday,
September 30th. Green Briar celebrates this native berry so prominent in
the history of Cape Cod with cooking demonstrations in its historic 1903 Jam
Kitchen using traditional cranberry recipes. A homemade cranberry dessert,
clam chowder and chili are served from 11am to 2pm for a $4 donation each.
The day's activities also include a "Frog in the Bog" Story Time at 10:30am
and guided tours of a neighboring cranberry bog at 11:00am and 1:15pm.
Donation for the bog tours is $3 or $5 per family. Visitors may browse
among the used book sale, view the two gallery exhibits, and check out the
nature center's resident animals. The unique Gift Shop offers jams, jellies
and relishes made here as they have been for over 100 years as well as a
variety of nature-related items including books, jewelry, t-shirts, toys and
much more. The grounds, Smiling Pool Pond, and adjacent Briar Patch
Conservation Area make this a special spot in all seasons. Green Briar is
located at 6 Discovery Hill Road, just off Route 6A in East Sandwich. For
further information, call 508-888-6870 or visit the website at
