  BREWSTER, MA ­ The Cape Cod Museum of Natural 
History in Brewster has a new Summer Series 
called Lunch & Learn. We are proud to present Why 
Birds Sing with Naturalist Phil Kyle Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:30am.

  The song of birds can be soothing and inspiring 
to us humans, but birds sing for more than just 
the beauty of it. Birds use song, call notes and 
behavior to communicate with each other. They 
also use sound and action to scare off predators 
or warn other birds about danger, to defend 
territory or to attract a mate during breeding season.

Through lecture, slides and Phil Kyle’s own 
carvings, the explanation of why birds vocalize 
is revealed. Science fiction will take on a whole 
new reality when migration, singing, nest 
building and territorial defense are discussed. 
Fasten your seat belts for an in depth but 
understandable explanation of bird behavior!
