BURGESS SOCIETY IN RECEIPT OF TWO GRANTS

The Thornton W. Burgess Society in Sandwich is the recipient of two recent
grants in support of its educational programs, both in-house at its Green
Briar Nature Center and outreach to area schools. A $10,000 grant has been
awarded by the Roessner Family Foundation in support of new programs in the
natural sciences designed for young learners and the continuation of
enrichment programs offered to Grades K-3 at the Hyannis West Elementary
School, which were also funded by the Roessner Family Foundation last year.

For the past several years the National Grid Foundation has provided funding
support for the Thornton W. Burgess Society's Project LIFE (Lessons in Field
Ecology) program in area schools. A $9,500 grant in 2017 provides support
to continue this program for Grades 2-6 in Sandwich, Bourne and Mashpee
schools. This year Project LIFE will also include new units of study in the
natural sciences and environmental studies.

The Thornton W. Burgess Society is grateful for the continued support from
the Roessner Family Foundation and the National Grid Foundation.
