Fresh air, family fun, and fitness are the perfect combination for your February Vacation Week plans. Come out and play in your Massachusetts State Parks and enjoy a fantastic array of family friendly programs and experiences from Cape Cod to the Berkshires. Enjoy guided experiences or create a park adventure on your own. There is so much to enjoy and explore in your state parks. Come for a visit!

Things to know before you go:
* Most programs are free. If admission is charged, information is in the program description.
* Some parks charge a parking fee. If so, information is in the program description.
* Dress for the weather by wearing sturdy winter footgear and dressing in layers for maximum comfort.
* All children must be accompanied by an adult.
* Carry drinking water and a snack.
* Rain, snow, or icy trails may cancel; please call ahead to confirm.
* Reasonable accommodations are available; call in advance to inquire.

Where am I? - Discover easy tips for finding your way while playing games and learning about directions, maps, and globes. Practice using a compass and then make one of your own with simple household materials. Program is best for ages 6 through 12. Dress for outdoor exploration. Program held indoors if extreme weather. Story & Stroll: The Feather Club - Listen to a story about migration and friendship then stroll the trails in search of birds and possibly a lost feather or two. Program is best for ages 2 through 7. Wednesday, February 22 1:00pm - 3:00pm Quashnet River Trail Head, Martin Road off Rt. 28, Falmouth/Mashpee line
Quashnet History Hike: In the Footsteps of a President - Enjoy an easy 2.5 mile hike and discover the long history of human activity along the Quashnet River, a favorite fishing spot of President Grover Cleveland and other dignitaries. Many locals, including Wampanoag families, mill operators, and cranberry farmers have made their living along the waterways and the native brook trout still attract fly fishers from near and far. Learn how restoration efforts have helped to bring back the habitat and wildlife. Wear boots and dress for the winter weather. Bring water and a snack. Extreme weather or dangerous trail conditions will cancel. For all ages; dogs on leash welcome. We'll meet at the Quashnet River Woods parking area off Martin Road in Falmouth.

Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Meet on the bluff , 131 Waquoit Hwy ( Rt.28) E. Falmouth Sky Watch During February, on Wednesdays around sunset (weather permitting) Waquoit Bay Research Reserve staff and scientists will be conducting tests of several optical instruments. Members of the public interested in astronomy and stargazing are welcome to join us as we will have telescopes set up for observing various celestial objects: planets, Moon, star clusters, etc. In particular, the planet Venus (the evening star) is very bright in the western sky now and will continue in February. Amateur astronomers interested in astrophotography and telescope making are cordially invited to come and discuss their experiences. Tremendous Trees - In this active study of trees and forests, we'll explore, collect samples, observe, measure, classify, and make conclusions. Discover the food web of the forest and make bark rubbings of your favorite specimens to take home. Program is best for ages 6 through 12. Dress for outdoor exploration.
