children's activities, walking tours, live music and a road race. The premier attraction
is the famous Oyster Shucking competition. It is sure to be a weekend full of hometown
flavor and big time fun!

marine issues. This year, we are highlighting marine pollution and what the public
can do to help. After all a healthy ocean means a healthy shellfishery!' said SPAT

Even the name honors the oyster. The acronym SPAT is also the name for a newly attached
baby oyster.
Proceeds from the 'Fest fund the organization's educational mission which includes
a college scholarship program, community grant awards and initiatives to help the
shellfishing industry. To date, SPAT has reinvested more than $380,000 back in the

local seed hatchery and research facility; designated $60,000 toward a loan program
for Wellfleet shellfishermen in collaboration with the Community Development Partnership
