This is a reminder that on *Wednesday, May 18 there will be a free workshop
on the final MS4 stormwater permit for Massachusetts and stormwater
collaboratives*. *The workshop will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 PM at
Lecture Hall A, Science Building, Cape Cod Community College, 2240
Iyannough Road (Route 132), West Barnstable, MA 02668. An Agenda is
attached.*
This workshop provides an important opportunity to learn firsthand from EPA
about the new 2016 final MS4 Stormwater Permit for Massachusetts. This
long-awaited stormwater permit will require most communities on Cape Cod
and many others in Massachusetts to meet tougher standards for stormwater
management under the Nonpoint Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and the
federal Clean Water Act.
This workshop also provides important information on stormwater
collaboratives, a way for communities to partner and share cost-effective
stormwater solutions. At the end of the workshop, there will be a poll to
learn about Cape Cod’s municipal stormwater needs and potential benefits of
forming a stormwater collaborative on Cape Cod. *The poll will be used to
plan next steps for Cape Cod communities to meet the MS4 requirements, so
please plan to attend*.
The workshop is intended for public works managers, stormwater managers,
wastewater and water resource managers, municipal and regional
decisionmakers, NGOs and the public.
The workshop is hosted by the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC), the
Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program, the Barnstable County Coastal
Resources Committee and the Cape Cod Commission. Attendance is free of
charge, but RSVP is appreciated. For more information or to RSVP, contact
Dr. Jo Ann Muramoto at jmuramoto at apcc.org or (508) 619-3185.
