The Citizens for the Protection of Waquoit Bay (CPWB) is looking for an Executive Director

This is a challenging part-time position (at least initially) that will require an enterprising individual to use the extensive tools and reputation of CPWB to build membership and other forms of income. The Executive Director is responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of managing CPWB which is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Waquoit Bay Watershed in Falmouth and Mashpee, Massachusetts. Position Description

This is a part-time position. The Executive Director leads the organization and is responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of managing The Citizens for the Protection of Waquoit Bay (CPWB).  The Executive Director reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director shall have an annual performance review and abide by all policies and procedures as voted by the Board of Directors. 
 Authority/Administration
∙         The Director shall implement policies, projects, and programs determined by the Board of Directors.
∙         The Director shall assist and/or oversee staff and volunteer training for all functions of CPWB.  
∙         The Director is required to seek Board approval for activities that impact CPWB Goals and Policies.
∙         The Director is authorized to approve expenditures on budgeted items up to and including $1,000. Expenditures over $1,000 are approved by the President or Treasurer.
∙         The Director is a non-voting member of all CPWB committees.
∙         The Director shall submit a monthly written report to the Board.
∙         The Director shall report to the President and Officers, in their capacities within the organization, and assist in carrying out their functions.
 Responsibilities
∙         Lead organization and implement Board priorities
∙         Develop annual operational goals with committee chairs that are consistent with the Strategic Plan and approved by the Board.
∙         Develop annual operational budget with CPWB treasurer that is consistent with the Strategic Plan and approved by the Board.
∙         Supervise, review, and annually evaluate staff, projects, and programs.
∙         Maintain communications with town boards on activities that affect the watershed.
∙         Oversee and approve all CPWB communications: verbal, visual, and written.
∙         At the direction of the Advocacy Committee, coordinate responses to immediate issues by gathering, presenting data, and recommending positions or action for the Board. Implement Board decisions and initiate follow-up actions.
∙         Hire, train, and supervise staff, providing direction and support.
∙         Evaluate administrative activities for best cost effective management for CPWB.
∙         Write and develop grant proposals with support of the related staff.
 Personal Characteristics

∙         Enthusiastic engagement with the mission and activities of the Citizens for the Protection of Waquoit Bay.  
∙         Ability to work with donors, staff and volunteers in a professional manner.  
∙         Must have strong people skills, perform as a team player, be a self-starter, and communicate well.            
 Professional Qualifications

∙         BA, BS degree, preferably with a concentration in Environmental Studies or Business Administration.  Degree may be substituted by equivalent work experience. 
∙         Should have management experience in a nonprofit organization or similar organization. 
∙         Proficiency with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel).
∙         Ability to work comfortably and effectively in a professional, organized manner.
∙         Demonstrated leadership skills. 
∙         Knowledge of the Waquoit Bay area, southeastern Massachusetts, and coastal issues is desirable.
