WHEN: Sunday, Jan. 31, 1 p.m.
WHERE: Sea Education Association
James L. Madden Center Lecture Hall
171 Woods Hole Road, Falmouth, MA
Free and Open to the Public
Light refreshments will be served
About the Lecture: "The Ocean and Modern Illegal Trafficking"
Whether transporting slaves across the Atlantic Ocean or rum-running during the era of prohibition, the ocean has been used as a means of illegal trafficking for centuries.
In the modern era, transational criminal organizations who move drugs, people, and weapons have emerged as the leading front in the battle against illegal trafficking. The U.S. Coast Guard is a key agency in this fight.
In this faculty lecture, Captain Chris Nolan, a former U.S. Coast Guard cutter commanding officer, will use compelling videos and images to describe the general methods and goals of illegal traffickers, and what the United States and its partners are doing to combat this threat.
About the Lecturer
Captain Chris Nolan <https://t.e2ma.net/click/7j9yl/3oi2km/3gwztd> is an Assistant Professor of Nautical Science at SEA Semester.
