Marine Life in the Fine Arts Classroom: Educators Workshop

Hosted by the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and the Audubon
Society of Rhode Island

Location: Audubon Society of Rhode Island Environmental Education Center,
1401 Hope Street, Bristol, RI

Program Fee: Free

How can we incorporate science into visual art education? Art teachers, join
us for a special workshop led by the Stellwagen Bank National Marine
Sanctuary and experienced Audubon educators. Learn about the rich
biodiversity of marine life right here in our own ocean backyard, and how
you can expose your students to these amazing animals through visual arts
concepts and lessons. Observe live marine life up close while we lead you
through a guided drawing lesson structured around science and art standards,
and then bring your sketchbooks into the exhibit hall for a chance to
visually explore on your own. Basic art materials will be provided, but
please feel free to bring your own materials and a sketchbook. This workshop
is FREE and open to all K-12 art educators (informal educators are also
welcome to attend). Space is limited to 20 participants. Visit www.asri.org
or call 401-245-7500 x 3112 to register or for more information.
