Details:

Join Goldenrod Foundation for the fourth presentation in our winter speaker series, Making Waves in Coastal Conservation, featuring Meredith Gutowski Morehouse, Conservation Specialist in the Executive Office of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN), a program within Manomet's Shorebird Recovery Program.

The Americas are home to a spectacular array of shorebird species that are essentially always on the move. Meredith will explain the importance of international collaboration to protect the breeding grounds, wintering locations, and migratory stopover sites of these long-distance athletes, many of which are in serious decline. She will describe how WHSRN facilitates this, and some of the interesting differences in perspectives and approaches among the various countries involved.

Meredith holds a B.S. in International Environmental Studies from Rutgers University's Douglass College and a Master's of Environmental Management in Resource Ecology (Conservation Biology track) from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment.

Prior to joining Manomet in 2007, Meredith worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Division of Bird Habitat Conservation in Arlington, Virginia. She was a coordinator and grants administrator for the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA)'s Mexico Grants Program, and later the Communications Coordinator for the Division's international migratory bird programs.

Pre-register for the talk to receive an email reminder about it a few days before and a message if it is postponed due to snow. Preregister here: http://www.goldenrod.org/blog/events/speaker-shorebird-protection
